Description: This knife is the work of Mastersmith James Rodebaugh. James has been a Mastersmith since 2004 and does impeccable work with exceptional fit and finish. This knife was made approximately in 2006 and kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in new condition. By all appearances, James could have made it yesterday! It’s quite rare to see one of Rodebaugh's knives on the secondary market and his wait time is currently several years!
This bird & trout is a perfect knife to keep close at hand. At only 1.8 ounces, it is so light you won't even notice it's on you. Despite that the 3-1/3 inch blade length is a perfect size to get most tasks done.
The drop point blade is forged from Rodebaugh's own damascus combining 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The blade has a high flat grind. James' touchmark is on the left side and his Mastersmith touchmark is on the right side. Because the blade is forged from carbon steel we recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade and natural wood handle.
The handle is sculpted from curly koa wood. Koa (Acacia koa) is a beautiful exotic wood that only grows on the Hawaiian islands. It is one of the most desirable woods in the world. A stainless steel bolster seals the handle. The handle is extremely comfortable despite its narrow and light shape
The hand tooled leather sheath accompanies the knife. The sheath has both a belt loop and a clip which allows it to attach to a zipper, belt loop, and many other things.
Excellent work throughout!
