Description: Jason Clark is a part time, sole authorship knifemaker from O'Brien, Florida. Jason has been employed full time as a Florida Law Enforcement Officer since 1997 and knows what it takes to make a high functioning knife that is meant to be used. He even offers lifetime free sharpening for any knife he has made!
The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth, drop shut action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The clip point blade on this Model 3 Flipper is stainless san mai damascus forged by Vegas Forge in the United States and hardened to 62 Hrc. A core steel of AEB-L stainless steel is surrounded by many alternating layers of damascus. Many knifemakers and metallurgists feel that AEB-L, with its small crystalline size, tremendous edge stability and toughness, is among the best stainless steels used in knifemaking today. AEB-L was developed for razor blades with a very fine grain structure making it easy to sharpen while maintaining good edge holding capabilities. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
Handle scales are amber jigged bone set on bead blasted titanium liners. The scales are dovetailed to blackened zirconium bolsters. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is resistant to corrosion and scuffing. The liners surround a free floating backbar. Both the flipper tab and inside of the lockbar are textured for additional traction. The zirconium pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
