Description: Growing up in a house where everybody had creative hobbies, John has always enjoyed making things with his hands. A part time knifemaker and retired architect, John Arnold finds both joy and satisfaction in designing and constructing well balanced, well proportioned and beautiful knives. The Knifemakers Guild of South Africa recognized John's skill and accepted him as a member in September 2006. John currently serves on the membership committee of the KGSA. He developed the Oyster Front Flipper as a design to be made for the KGSA knifemaking competition.
Arnold designed this strong, reliable folder for everyday carry, yet it could easily be a cherished knife in any collection. The action is smooth and consistent. The blade is perfectly centered without the slightest wobble. A front flipper assists in the ease of opening. This style of front flipper is rotated out with the thumb, though it can be flicked out with a little practice. The compact front flipper is easy to use and does not get caught on things while kept in the pocket.
The blade is hand ground N690 stainless steel. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. A hand rubbed satin finish adds to the heirloom appearance.
Black G-10 handles scales are inlaid with wild olive wood. The combination is particularly dramatic. Anodized titanium liners keep the knife strong, yet light. At just 2 oz, this knife is easy for everyday carry. The anodized titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
