Description: This knife was made by knifemaker Frank McGowan. Frank is an active member of The Knifemakers' Guild. This Upswept Hunter was kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in mint condition and by all appearances, Frank could have made it yesterday!
The stainless steel blade features a hand rubbed satin finish. A fileworked spine provides excellent thumb purchase. The primary bevel is flat ground with a false edge traveling along the spine. Frank's touchmark is on the right side of the blade. A choil allows you to choke up for more detail-oriented tasks.
The wooden handle is carved to emulate a dragon's claw holding an egg. The handle was pyrographed to create dragon scales and then hand painted. The handle is fit to a fileworked and antiqued copper guard. The lightweight handle fills your hand nicely and offers excellent grip.
To keep the knife close at hand, a custom sheath with ostrich leather overlay is included. The sheath was handmade by Frank's wife, Liz.
Nice work throughout!
