Description: Mastersmith Mike Vagnino began his journey into knifemaking back in 1995, starting with a forging class from Karl Shroen. He continued his training under the watchful eye of Mastersmith Tim Hancock. He received his journeyman smith rating in 2001 and his Mastersmith rating in 2003. He strives to build high performing, yet beautiful knives. This knife was in a private collection since it was made. Other than a couple of light scuffs on the blade, this knife is in mint condition.
The blade is perfectly centered and has a smooth action with a firm half stop. The blade can be easily opened using the left-side nail nick.
The clip point blade is CPM-154 stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it while remaining tough and chip resistant. Mike's maker mark is on the ricasso.
Carbon fiber scales are secured to stainless liners using pins and a lanyard tube. The scales are fit to bolsters engraved by Mike into a dragon motif. The liners are jewel polished in the interior.
Great work throughout!
