Description: George Herron, who passed away in early 2007, was a genius and a pioneer who was so generous with his hard-earned knowledge that his influence will be seen in knives for generations of knifemakers to come. He was renowned for the sturdy, yet exquisitely designed and constructed stock removal knives he made throughout his life. This knife is numbered 1376 at the base of the tang.
This excellent little hunter is the sort of knife that George is best remembered for. Light and maneuverable, this knife has been in a private collection and is in immaculate condition. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday. Though comfortable in any collection, it would certainly stand up to field use.
The hand ground blade is stainless steel. A deep hollow grind ensures clean cutting. Flowing lines continue from the blade to the handle. Stabilized tiger strip maple handle scales are set on a full, distal tapered tang. The handle is well contoured and fits in your hand like an extension of your arm. A stainless steel guard and a graceful flare at the butt of the knife ensure your hand stays exactly where you put it.
This knife is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath. Quality workmanship from one of the knife world's great masters.
