Description: This Field Ant Skinner is an exceptional daily companion. The slim-profiled knife will be easy to keep close by, yet will have platy of cutting power.
The blade is hand ground go mai five layer damascus combining a 1080 carbon steel core with alternating layers of 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels. This elegant blade material was forged by South African bladesmith Dave Skinner. The carbon steel core ensures a keen, long lasting edge. A differential heat treatment provides a strong, resilient spine. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. Van der Merwe's mark is set on the left side. An ant is inlaid in 24K gold (van der Merwe calls his company Ant Knives).
Hand contoured stabilized spalted tamarind handle scales are set on the distal tapered full tang for perfect balance. A lanyard can easily be added to the back of the handle.
This knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather custom sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
