Description: This hunter is the work of Andrew Blomfield. Andrew hails from New South Wales, Australia and became an American Bladesmith Society Journeyman Smith in June 2022. I was tremendously excited when I was introduced to his work by fellow countryman Bruce Barnett. Blomfield brings a level of skill that is extremely rare. This drop point hunter is a nice example of his clean work.
The 4 inch drop point blade was forged to shape from 5160 carbon steel ensuring a long lasting, chip resistant cutting edge. A hand rubbed satin finish adds an heirloom quality to the blade. Andrew's mark is on the left side of the blade.
A contoured desert ironwood handle provides a comfortable grip. Desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) is a rare wood that is only found in the valleys of the Sonoran Desert below 2,500 foot elevation. It is extremely dense and durable. In fact it is so dense, that if a piece is dropped in water it will sink! A brass spacer and stainless steel guard complete the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand, a pouch style leather sheath is included.
Exceptional work throughout!
