Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kikuo Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. He was born in Seki, Japan in 1951. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. Kikuo joined his father's knife grinding business at 15 years old and learned grinding techniques from his father. Kikuo's skill at the grinder has become legendary.
The Pike is a sickle style machete perfect for brush clearing, though would be an equally devastating weapon. The immense recurve and hollow grind provides exceptional cutting power with little resistance.
The 8-1/2 inch blade is san mai featuring a core steel of SG2 stainless steel with soft sided cladding. Super Gold 2 powdered metallurgical stainless steel is among the best edge holding stainless steels used in Japan. Aggressive jimping along the spine and a choil provides excellent control.
Coyote brown G-10 handle scales are hand contoured for a secure, comfortable grip. A lanyard can be added at the back of the handle for extra retention.
This knife is accompanied by a custom Sunloid KD acrylic-pvc sheath. A DOTS belt clip makes it easy to keep this knife close at hand.
Exceptional work throughout!
