Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kikuo Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. He was born in Seki, Japan in 1951. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. Kikuo joined his father's knife grinding business at 15 years old and learned the grinding technique from his father. Over the years, Kikuo's skill at the grinder has become legendary
This Midare-Gumo is a brand new prototype from Kiku. The Japanese inspired tanto blade will have exceptional edge holding. OU-31 is a Japanese PM (powdered metallurgical) steel with micro fine crystalline structure that embodies many of the best attributes needed for knives. The steel is hardened to 64 Hrc (very hard!) and has more than 3 times the toughness of D2. The blade features Kiku's high performance Hamaguri-ba (convex) grind along with his non-reflective disruptive acid finish.
Black G-10 handle scales are secured to the full tang using torx screws. The scales are contoured to provide a secure grip. The substantial tang offers extreme strength and durability.
This knife is accompanied by a custom Sunloid KD acrylic-pvc sheath. A DOTS belt clip is included to make it easy to keep this knife close at hand.
