Description: Tom Buckner, out of Olympia, Washington, makes amazing hunting and culinary knives. He has a tremendous fit and finish and well tested designs. This drop point hunter is a classic design originally developed by renowned knifemaker Bob Loveless. The Loveless Drop Point Hunter has become a hallmark of the knife industry. It is considered by many hunters to be the ideal hunting knife design.
The blade on this drop point hunter is hand ground damascus forged by Salem Straub. The complex laddered Ws pattern is immediately captivating. The high hollow grind provides very efficient cutting geometry.
Handle scales are ancient woolly mammoth ivory. They are set with mosaic pins and a steel lanyard tube. A 416 stainless steel bolster seals the front of the handle. Red fiber spacers separate the scales from the distal tapered full tang. This assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The rounded handle is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip.
This Drop Point Hunter is accompanied by a hand stitched custom leather sheath. This helps protect the edge during transport and storage.
Excellent work throughout!
