Description: Bob Merz has been making knives since the early 1970s and has been a member of the Knifemaker's Guild for over 20 years. He focuses on creating high performance knives that will exceed expectations. He guarantees his knives against failure due to workmanship or materials.
This Slipjoint Folder with Jigged Bone shows Merz' high precision work. The blade is hand ground CTS-XHP stainless steel. This US-made steel is an air hardening, high carbon, high chromium, corrosion resistant alloy. The grinds are satin finished while the flats are mirror polished, showing off the crisp, clean grinds. The blade is flat ground and features a hand rubbed satin finish. The blade can be easily opened using the extended nail nick. The blade has consistent, smooth action and a firm half stop.
Jigged bone scales meet perfectly with 416 stainless steel bolsters. A lanyard can be added to the back of the knife for extra retention. The liners are hand fileworked. Red fiber liners assist the handle to adjust to humidity and temperature changes.
Excellent work throughout!
