Description: I was excited when Mastersmith David Lisch introduced me to Mike Clark Jr back in 2018. Since then, his work has continued to show his tremendous attention to detail. Given the level of work, it is no surprise that Mike easily passed his JS Test at the 2019 Blade Show in Atlanta, GA. As Mike prepares to test for mastersmith, he has begun making some spectacular daggers. This dagger is very reminiscent of the Fairbairn–Sykes dagger from the WWII era.
The blade is hand forged 1084 carbon steel to ensure an excellent combination of wear resistance and toughness. It is perfectly ground with symmetrical ridge and features a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. Clark's maker mark is shown on the ricasso of the knife.
The handle is Arizona desert ironwood (Olneya tesota). Ironwood is a rare wood that is only found in the valleys of the Sonoran Desert below 2,500 foot elevation. It is among the most desirable of exotic woods used for knives. This dramatic piece of burl contains both heartwood and sapwood sections. The pommel and guard are blued wrought iron. The knife feels perfectly balanced and is very comfortable in hand.
This knife is accompanied by a custom hand tooled, hand stitched leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
