Description: Mareko Maumasi is well known for his exceptional high end kitchen knives. He worked for years with Mastersmith Bob Kramer and Mastersmith David Lisch. Given this, It is no surprise that his understanding of kitchen knives, as well as insight into working with steel, is exceptional. This handmade, one-of-a-kind knife is from Mareko's Smith & Bard collection.
The satin finished blade is 1075 carbon steel, hardened to 61 Hrc. 1075 carbon steel is well known for combining high edge retention and excellent chip resistance. The blade features Mareko's bilateral compound "S" grind which reduces friction when cutting foods and encourages food release from the side of the blade. Both the blade and tang are distal tapered providing a perfect balance.
The handle is Mazecut G-Carta set to the full tang using a brass pin. Mareko's ridgeline handle design is exceptionally comfortable. The hand contoured handle nicely accommodates both a pinch grip and when holding the knife further back on the handle.
At 6.6 oz, this knife is exceptionally nimble for its size and will cut through foods effortlessly. This is sure to become your favorite knife in the kitchen!
