Description: I was very excited when I first got a look at Ben Akin's knives. Ben is a custom knifemaker from Washington State. He is an avid sportsman and so it is no surprise that he makes custom knives for the outdoors. His knives are exceptionally well designed and tested. His attention to detail is clearly evident in each of his creations. He is a member of the American Bladesmith Society, the Idaho Knife Association, The Oregon Knife Collectors Association, and the Montana Knifemakers Association. He both forges and stock removes his knives.
This high performance EDC is a perfect knife for every day use and carry. This knife will be easy to keep by your side.
The AEB-L stainless steel blade is razor sharp. Many knifemakers and metallurgists feel that AEB-L, with its small crystalline size, tremendous edge stability and toughness, is among the best stainless steels used in knifemaking today. AEB-L was developed for razor blades with a very fine grain structure making it easy to sharpen while maintaining good edge holding capabilities. The blade features an heirloom quality hand rubbed satin finish. A distal taper creates perfect balance in hand.
The contoured, ergonomic handle is made from linen Micarta. It is set on a full tang using two pins. The hand contoured handle provides a comfortable grip.
The knife is accompanied by a custom leather sheath by Cindy Akin Leathercrafts, Ben's wife. The natural veg-tanned leather avoids the chemicals in chrome tanned leather that can harm the surface of steel blades. Ritza Tiger Thread stands up to the elements while you are out and about.
Excellent work throughout!
