Description: De Wet van Zyl is a bladesmith from Durban, South Africa. He started making knives in 2005 and has been a full time knifemaker since 2007. He spent two years apprenticing with Mastersmiths Kevin and Heather Harvey at Heavin Forge in Belfast, Mpumalanga before opening Darkwing Blades in April, 2009. He was named as a Maker to Watch by Blade Magazine and has won numerous awards over the years.
The twist pattern damascus blade was hand forged beginning with carbon steels, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge. By using three different steels, De Wet, created a blade with tremendous complexity that demands examination. The blade is symmetrically hollow ground and perfectly balanced from side to side.
The ebony handle and antiqued brass guard and pommel are hand contoured and exceptionally comfortable.
This dagger is accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath with antiqued bass frog.
Excellent work throughout!
