Description: South African bladesmith Philip Dunn is from the Deep South Peninsula of Cape Town. His passion is knives, daggers, and pattern welded steels. He strives to make tools that are not only function but have tremendous beauty. Looking at this dagger, it is no question that he succeeds! Philip became a member of the Cape Knifemakers Guild in 2016 and qualified for the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa in 2020.
Philip began this exceptional Quillion Dagger by forging the blade to shape from his own twisted w's pattern damascus. The pattern is a nice mix of fine and bold details. The grind is exquisitely done and perfectly balanced.
The S quillion, clamshell, spacer, and pommel are all formed from matching twisted Ws damascus. The carved clamshell is designed for stopping an incoming blade. With a quick twist of the wrist, the attacker can be easily disarmed.
The hand contoured African blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon) handle is perfectly shaped to accommodate a secure, comfortable grip. African Blackwood is among the most dense, durable woods available in the world and is highly prized for its jet black appearance.
This dagger is accompanied by a leather sheath with wrought iron furniture.
