Description: South African bladesmith Philip Dunn is from the Deep South Peninsula of Cape Town. His passion is knives, daggers, and pattern welded steels. He strives to make tools that are not only function but have tremendous beauty. Philip became a member of the Cape Knifemakers Guild in 2016 and qualified for the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa in 2020.
This Dog Bone Bowie features a hand forged damascus blade. By combining carbon steels, Dunn ensures this bowie will have exceptional toughness and edge holding. The high contrast pattern is immediately captivating and shows a lot of movement in the steel. The long clip point stops just short of being fully sharpened.
The handle is sculpted from a solid piece of African blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon). African blackwood is among the most dense, durable woods available in the world and is highly prized for its jet black appearance. The handle is finished with a matching damascus guard, spacer, and finial forged from Philip's own damascus. The dogbone style handle is very comfortable and fills out the hand nicely.
To keep the knife close at hand, a hand tooled leather sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
