Description: Inspired by 19th century English Jack knives, the swayback pattern is named for its shape and is a stylish and extremely functional cutting tool.
It features a Wharncliffe blade, which has a straight edge that tapers toward a point. Early wharncliffe blades were quite thick and could be used for everything from whittling to splitting wood. Miller’s adaptation of the swayback features a very thin blade with an aggressive distal taper, yielding a very thin dress knife that disappears into the pocket. Miller forged the damascus blade from 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels and tempered it to Hrc 62. The blade has smooth action with a half stop. It is easily opened using the right-handed thumb nick.
Ancient mammoth ivory scales are vacuum stabilized. They are formed from the inner tusk and are a beautiful burnt cream tone. The back spring is 1080 carbon steel, tempered to Hrc 48. Liners and fluted bolsters are 410 stainless steel.
Excellent work throughout.
