Description: Dawson Knives was started in 1973 by Barry Dawson after completing his tour of duty in Vietnam. Today, three generations of his family help him run the company. Dawson knives are handcrafted in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty. The Dawson Select line represents their line of higher end knives -- often including one-off builds. This Asian Sword has been meticulously cared for in a private collection since it was made around 2015. It is in new condition and by all appearances, it could have been made yesterday. This sword is one-of-a-kind and there isn't another one exactly like it.
This Oni Kira (Demon Slayer) sword model is influenced by the Chinese Dao. The slim blade moving into a wider spear point tip provides a front heavy balance that increases momentum when swinging the sword. Both the primary and top edge are fully sharpened allowing for lethal strikes from multiple positions. The sword is nicely balanced and feels great in the hand.
The blade is 80CrV2 carbon steel with an obsidian finish. Barry uses a special signature heat treatment which he has perfected over 30 years of knife and swordmaking to produce a superior edge with exceptional battle toughness. The spine is hand fileworked into a vine pattern. A built in guard doubles as a sword catch to stop incoming blades.
The handle is green canvas Micarta set to a full tang using YFS bolts that can be removed with a hex wrench. The handle was then wrapped in nylon (tsuka ito) using the traditional Japanese method. The handle accommodates a two hand grip, but the sword is light enough to easily wield with one hand.
To keep the sword close at hand, a Kydex belt sheath is included.
