Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing folder. He has worked extensively with Mastersmith Bill Burke and Bill Ruple. He is a tremendous smith at the forge and his attention to detail really shows through in his slip joint folders.
The classic slip joint Saddlehorn is given an elegant new lease on life in this knife by Barnett.
The deep bellied, clip point blade is formed from Bruce's feather pattern damascus. The high contrast pattern looks great from a distance, yet reveals further intricacies upon closer examination. The blade has smooth, firm action with a well timed half stop.
Handle scales are formed from whitelip mother of pearl. The presentation grade whitelip has tremendous underlying flash. Three recessed, hand domed pins set the scales in place. The scales are perfectly fit to front and rear 410 stainless steel bolsters and are set on fileworked liners. The back spring is formed from CPM-154 stainless steel. The bolsters are meticulously engraved by Diane Scalese from Big Sandy, MT. A central leaf on the front bolster is inlaid with 24k gold. Diane's engraving has tremendous detail and depth.
Exceptional work throughout!
