Description: Arpad Bojtos is a world renowned knifemaker from Slovakia. He has been making knives full time since 1996. Regretably, his work has has become increasingly hard to come by. He uses exquisite materials and is well known for his incredibly detailed carving skills. Because of the extensive labor Arpad puts into his knives, he is only able to complete about 6 - 10 knives each year. He has won numerous awards including "Best Art Knife" twice at the Atlanta Blade Show which is the largest knife show in the world. This incredibly detailed dagger is among Arpad's master works. The dagger was completed in 2018 and took Arpad over 3 months to complete. It has been kept in a private collection since it was made and is in brand new, unused condition. By all appearances, Arpad could have made it yesterday!
The 11-1/4 inch dagger ground blade is made from feather pattern damascus forged from carbon steels by Ukranian bladesmith Gregory Verizhnikov. The high contrast pattern is extremely engaging. The blade is perfectly symmetrical and moves into a piercing tip.
The handle is formed from a column of ancient walrus ivory. The meticulously carved 416 stainless steel guard features 24K gold accents. The guard is meticulously hand carved into a motif depicting the Archangel Michael defeating two fallen angel-demons. Red gold spacers surround the walrus ivory handle. The handle is finished with a pommel hand carved with an angel surrounded by angel wings. The carving is tremendously detailed and shows exceptional thre dimensionality.
As if the knife was not enough, the sheath is a true piece of artwork in its own right. It is made from a solid piece of ebony wood, inlaid with meticoulously carved mammoth ivory. The carving depicts a matching motif of fallen angels. Mammoth ivory inlays are featured on both sides of the sheath. Snakes are meticulously carved from silver and show tremendous detail. 24K gold inlaid flames are used throughout the sheath.
This is a spectacular presentation that could easily be the centerpiece of any collection. World-class work throughout!
