Description: Mastersmith Rick Dunkerley waited 20 years between when he forged the steel of this dramatic folder until finding just the right knife for it. The wait was clearly worthwhile. Four bars of damascus were combined to create the intricate pattern. 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels ensure a keen, long lasting edge. The blade has silky-smooth action and is easily opened with three 'Delana dots' set on each side of the swedge.
Antique shell scales are set on 24k gold leaf. This, in turn, is set on black G10. This technique creates a very strong, stable handle with exceptional underlying detail and warmth. Shell of this quality is extremely rare! Rick recovered the shell from an antique bracelet that was over 100 years old. The surface of the shell is hand carved. 15N20 carbon steel liners are meticulously hand fileworked and nitre blued. The matching damascus backbar is inlaid with 24k gold, hand fileworked, and engraved. Color case hardend mild steel bolsters are meticulously hand engraved in Western gun engraving style. Screws throughout have been meticulously hand fileworked and nitre blued.
Exceptional work throughout!
