Description: Lourens Prinsloo made his first knife in 1996, shortly after attending a knifemaking course with Owen Wood. In 1998 he became a member of the Knifemakers' Guild of Southern Africa. Prior to his retirement in 2016, Lourens taught engineering, graphic design, woodworking, and metalwork. This variety of experience helped him tackle the challenges that exist with creating high performing folders that are beautiful as well as functional. His main focus is making gentleman's folding knives, specifically liner locks, designed to be carried and used.
The 3 inch blade is formed from N690 stainless steel, with a Rockwell hardness of 60. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The blade is perfectly centered with consistent, silky smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
Shred carbon fiber handle scales are set on anodized titanium liners. A titanium pivot is surrounded by a titanium pivot collar. The titanium pocket clip is mounted for tip-up, right side carry.
Excellent work throughout!
