Description: Designated a National Living Treasure by the University of North Carolina, Jerry Fisk has been recognized with just about every honor or award a knifemaker can receive. This includes, but is not limited to displays in multiple museums in America and Europe, as well as being a member of the American Bladesmith Hall of Fame. In his 25 years making knives, Fisk also helped develop a Bladesmithing School in San Paolo Brazil, received the Arkansas Governors Award for Traditional Arts and is the only Bladesmith to receive the William F. Moran Bladesmithing Award two times. Simply put, owning a Fisk knife is owning an important piece of knifemaking history.
This is a very rare Wilderness Camp Bowie. Jerry only made three knives of this pattern. This one was made in the early 1990s. It has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. By all appearances, Jerry could have made it yesterday!
The drop point blade was hand forged from 5160 carbon steel. Jerry chose 5160 for this Camp Bowie because of its exceptional resilience. As Fisk says, "5160 is tougher than a one-eyed bulldog!" A hand rubbed satin finish lends an heirloom quality. The blade features a differential heat treatment, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge matched with exceptional durability.
The contoured walnut handle is nicely shaped. Handle scales are set on a distal tapered full tang for strength and durability. It has perfect balance. This is a knife you won't want to put down. The nickel silver guard meets perfectly with both blade and walnut handle. It is carved in a scalloped shell pattern.
To keep the knife close at hand, a pouch style leather sheath made by Kenny Rowe is included.
Exceptional work throughout from a exemplary world class knifemaker.
