Description: Aaron Wilburn became a journeyman smith in June of 2009 and a master smith in 2013. He has an incredible control over damascus that few others can replicate. Aaron creates serious knives for some of the most avid collectors and this bowie is an exceptional example of his work!
The 9-1/2 inch damascus blade was forged to shape from Aaron's own random pattern damascus. The pattern immediately grabs attention, with stark contrast from the deep etch. The clip stops just short of being fully sharpened. Wilburn's maker's mark is stamped on the left side of the ricasso and his M.S. mark is stamped on the right.
Wilburn used ancient woolly mammoth ivory to create the handle. The bark ivory shows beautiful cream and coffee tones from the minerals that move into the ivory while being buried across thousands of years. The ivory is secured using five hand domed pins. The heat blued, forged wrought iron frame is surrounded by filed nickel silver liners. A bronze fluted spacer and blued wrought iron S-guard completes the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand and protect it during transportation, a custom leather sheath is included. The sheath features a basketweave tooled pattern and an alligator leather throat.
Exceptional work throughout!
