Description: This exquisite chef's knife was created by Forged in Fire winner, Jordan LaMothe. Twenty-three year old Jordan works in a coal forge on his family's farm in Hebron, NY. His tremendous attention to detail is matched by his exquisite understanding of chef's knives.
Chef's knives are the general purpose knife in the kitchen. From slicing tomatoes to chopping onions, this knife will get the task done perfectly. It is sure to be a kitchen favorite.
The 9-1/2 inch blade was forged to shape from high performing 1080 carbon steel. By forging the blade closely to shape, Jordan ensures a keen, long lasting edge. The top of the side features an elegant brute de forge finish -- literally created with hammer blows. The spine is nicely rounded for a comfortable grip The flats feature an heirloom quality hand rubbed satin finish. The integral bolster was forged to shape, showing tremendous skill. A stainless steel spacer provides a nice contrast.
The handle is vintage Micarta. The antique Micarta is beautifully sculpted for a secure, comfortable grip. Over decades, the surface of the material darkened and the sculpting highlights the antique patina.
The blade features a perfect distal taper keeping this knife light and nimble. Exceptional work throughout!
