Description: Mastersmith P.J. Tomes creates utilitarian knives of true perfection. He doesn't make as many knives has he used to, so I was extremely pleased when he called to let us know he had just completed some new knives that were coming our way.
This Model 2B Hunter features a sway back blade inspired by William Scagel (one of the best known makers of the early 20th century). The handle was inspired by Michael Price (among the greatest of the knifemakers of late 1800s San Francisco). Combining the visual and tactile sense of these two renowned makers results in a captivating hunter that you won't want to put down.
The swayback blade was hand forged from 52100 carbon steel. Many makers and collectors feel this steel to be among the greatest steels used on knives today. The edge holding and sharpness are beyond compare. The satin finished blade is distal tapered, creating a knife that immediately becomes an extension of your hand when held. P.J.'s maker mark is on the left side of the blade and his M.S. mark is on the right side.
The 416 stainless steel guard is perfectly fit to the blade. Stainless steel and black and red fiber spacers are stacked to provide a classic look. The black linen micarta handle is contoured for a sure, comfortable grip.
Accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout.
