Description: Jan Wahl, is a maker to watch. He became a full time knife maker in 2009 and joined the South African Knife Makers Guild in 2012. Jan has excellent attention to detail. Lately, he has been hanging out with Mastersmith Kevin Harvey and Wahl has been picking up some serious new skills.
The clip point blade is hand forged from 1095 carbon steel providing excellent edge retention and chip resistance. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. The grind features a hand rubbed satin finish. The flats are hand textured . The spine has been hand textured and fileworked, which provides a solid thumb purchase when choking up on the blade. Because this knife is made from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to oil both the blade and natural wood handle.
The handle is formed from pecan wood burl (Carya illinoinensis). The handle is sculpted to swell in the center of the handle and provides excellent grip. The brass guard is hand engraved and stippled, providing a very pleasing aesthetic.
To keep the knife close at hand, a tooled leather sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
