Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. His attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing hunting knife.
This hunter features a 5-1/2 inch carbon steel blade hand forged to shape from 1084 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment ensures superior edge holding with exceptional durability. The elegant heat treatment line in visible beneath the hand rubbed satin finish.
The handle is formed from presentation Tasmanian blackwood, stabilized for durability when used out in the field. Tasmanian blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) is native to Tasmania and eastern Australia. Although called “blackwood,” the name is somewhat of a misnomer, as its wood is not at all black. Rather, its lustrous golden brown grain and figure is very similar to Hawaiian curly koa. A 416 stainless steel guard is precision fit to the blade and is followed by alternating spacers formed from patinaed copper and black fiber. This assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
Accompanied by a custom hand tooled pouch style leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
