Description: carlMichael crafted his first knife at 15 years old. His 30 years of artistry are reflected in this exceptional knife.
This 2-3/4 inch blade was forged to shape by Magnus Jonsson. He began by stacking up layers of carbon steel with Muonionalusta meteorite. This meteorite is impacted in northern Scandinavia, west of the border between Sweden and Finland, about one million years BCE. This meteorite is the oldest discovered meteorite impacting Earth and is believed to be part of the iron core of a planetoid which shattered into many pieces upon its fall to our planet. Since landing on Earth, the meteorite has experienced four ice ages and one very hot day while it was being forged into this blade!
The handle is formed from damascus forged by Vladic Daniluk, a Russian-born bladesmith now living in Sweden. He is well known throughout Europe for his exquisite control over damascus as well as his dramatic hunting knives. The tightly twisted damascus combines carbon steel with nickel.
The knife is accompanied by a blade cover formed from ancient mammoth ivory. Magnets inset into the sheath provide a secure grip. The knife is accompanied by a presentation stand combining wenge and ancient walrus ivory.
This is an absolutely spectacular presentation piece!
