Description: Anders Hogstrom specializes in combining traditional Japanese techniques with those of his native Sweden.
The 1050 carbon steel blade features a differential heat treatment. The undulating line travelling across the blade was created by a technique Hogstrom borrowed from Japanese swords. The spine was coated in clay prior to quenching. By acting as a heat sink, the clay results in a keen, long lasting cutting edge with a softer, supportive spine.
The handle is formed from a solid piece of stabilized beechwood burl. The dramatic, light toned wood has a swirling figure and was brought to a high gloss finish. The bolster was formed from bronze and features a textured finish that nicely complements the wood handle.
A traditional Swedish leather sheath with a single seam and belt loop holds this outstanding knife.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
