Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the damascus, to sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic. Micke is one of the few Swedish makers to make such large, impressive Bowies.
The massive blade is formed from three composite bars of damascus. The central bar is a spiderweb pattern with a central spider tile. Bars of 20C carbon steel separate the central bar from a twist pattern edge and spine. By forging the Twist pattern from Uddeholm 15N20 and 20C carbon steels, Micke ensures exceptional edge holding. A large choil allows the user to choke up on the blade for more detailed cutting tasks. A Spanish notch makes re-sharpening the blade a breeze!
The damascus guard, pommel and ferrule are all forged from matching Twist pattern damascus. Fileworked stainless steel spacers separate the fittings. The handle is constructed from stabilized maple burl. The handle has tremendous swirling figure. The contoured handle is very comfortable in hand and has exceptional balance.
This bowie is accompanied by a handmade leather sheath. The wood frame is wrapped with hand tooled leather.
Exceptional work throughout!
