Description: This Willem Steenkamp custom Swift Front Flipper with Stacked Carbon Fiber and G-10 is a fantastic utility folder. The drop point blade and ergonomic handle are perfectly designed for the task at hand. Willem was accepted as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) in May of 2007. His attention to detail is clearly evident in his knives. His fit and finish is on par with the best makers out there!
The 2-3/4 inch drop point blade is made from M390 stainless steel, a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powder metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. It offers excellent corrosion resistance due to its high concentration of chromium. The blade is hollow ground for easy maintenance.
The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous, inobtrusive front flipper toggle. Front flippers, while taking slightly more practice to use than conventional flippers, are tremendously practical. The small flipper size makes this knife easy to carry and ensures it doesn’t get caught on things in your pocket. The blade uses an IKBS pivot (Ikoma Korth Bearing System). This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
Black G-10/carbon fiber handle scales are set on titanium liners. The liners and pocket clip are textured and anodized bronze. A carbon fiber back spacer keeps the knife strong yet light. The pocket clip is mounted right-handed, tip-up carry.
Exceptional work throughout!
