Description: Journeyman Smith Scott Gallagher makes an exceptional knife. I was very excited when Mastersmith Bill Burke introduced me to Scott at the 2019 Blade Show in Atlanta. Gallagher's attention to detail is immediately visible in his exquisite knives. This Quillion Dagger is among his masterworks to date.
The blade was hand forged from 1084 carbon steel. A deep black gun blued finish is tremendously elegant. The blade is beautifully flat ground with nice symmetry. One side of the ricasso is marked with his maker's mark. The other features his JS stamp.
The quillion guard was forged to shape from twisted Ws pattern damascus. Each end culminates in a clamshell finial. Matching twisted Ws damascus forms the pommel and ferrule. Solid 24k gold spacers add a beautiful contrast. The handle if formed from a hand fluted column of African blackwood. The top of each flute is completed with twisted fine silver wire.
Exceptional work throughout!
