Description: This folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005. Ricus' folders combine incredibly smooth action with a high level of fit and finish. Ricus has become a powerhouse of the South African flipper makers.
The drop point N690 stainless blade is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. The increased toughness gives it better resistance to chipping. The blade is hand hollow ground for easy, quick touchups.
The blade is easily opened by using the ambidextrous flipper mechanism. It is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth action due to the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed for balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
Red/black carbon fiber handle scales are set on fileworked blue anodized titanium liners, providing an elegant contrast. The scales meet perfectly to hand textured and banded zirconium bolsters. The textured, anodized zirconium bolsters provide a steadfast grip that is also very beautiful. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is highly resistant to corrosion and scuffing. The handle is completed with a 3D machined titanium pocket clip with a ceramic retention ball that is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
