Description: This knife was made by Mastersmith Andrew Meers. Andrew Meers is a talented knifemaker originally from Boston, where he studied under Mastersmith JD Smith. He recently completed his stay as resident artist at Appalachian Center for Craft.
This chef's knife is likely to become the primary knife used in your kitchen. The sleek blade provides finger clearance while being extremely dexterous. The nicely arced blade has a perfect shape for an efficient rocking chop. Whether chopping onions, mincing garlic, or slicing meats, this knife will be a perfect choice. It is a perfect choice as the primary knife used in the kitchen.
Andrew hand forged the blade from 52100 carbon steel. Many knife makers and knife users include 52100 carbon steel among their favorite steels. 52100 takes on a superior cutting edge that just won't quit. Forge finished (kurouchi) flats move into satin finished grinds. A convex grind assists to release sliced foods from sticking the side of the knife.
Black canvas micarta scales are set on the full tang. The scales are nicely rounded for a secure, comfortable grip. They are set in place with three mosaic pins. A distal taper to both blade and tang ensures a perfect balance.
Exceptional work throughout!
