Description: This dramatic sheep horn hunter shows the influence of knives by Mastersmiths Bill Burke and Ed Fowler.
The 4 inch long, drop point blade was differentially heat treated, bringing the edge to critical temperature then differentially oil quenching. Many thermal cycles and normalizing steps ensure consistent grain structure. A cryogenic treatment between tempers enhances the edge holding ability. A clear differential heat treatment line shows the transition between the softer supportive spine and keen, long lasting cutting edge.
The sheep horn handle is nicely shaped and fits comfortably in the hand. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. The spacer is created by taking two sheep horn end cuts and aligning them outward, producing a very pleasing effect. An antiqued wrought iron guard adds a nice contrast. The handle feels so natural in the hand, you’ll have a hard time putting it down. A serious field knife for the avid hunter or collector.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
