Description: Washington knifemaker, Andrea Lisch is both a bladesmith and a blacksmith. She has worked alongside her husband, Mastersmith David Lisch in both these roles for many years. Her skill in design and bladesmithing clearly shows through on this elegant chef's knife. This is as good as a chef's knife gets! In fact, Andrea won Best New Knife Maker of Show at the O.K.C.A. Knife Show 2017 in Oregon with this exact knife. We've included the award with the knife.
Eight inch chef's knives are the general purpose knife in the kitchen. From slicing tomatoes to chopping onions, this knife will get the task done perfectly. It is sure to be a kitchen favorite.
Andrea began forging this integral chef's knife beginning with 1080, 1075 and 15N20 carbon steels. The bold Feather pattern is immediately captivating and draws attention from a distance. By forging closely to shape, she ensures optimal grain structure for a keen, long lasting edge. The blade is beautifully thin with a nice distal taper for clean, perfect cuts. The bolster is fully integral to the blade, with the damascus pattern moving seamlessly from bolster to blade. This technique has superior structural integrity and requires a particularly talented smith.
The handle is fumed from presentation grade Koa wood. It is nicely sculpted for a secure, comfortable grip - swelling at the palm, moving into a slimmer waist, and swelling again at the end of the handle. The stabilized wood will hold up beautifully to the hard demands of a kitchen environment. Alternating black fiber and nickel silver spacers assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes in the kitchen.
Exceptional work throughout!
