Description: Mastersmith Daniel Winkler created the Winkler II line in 2010. It is an alternate approach to an established tradition. Winkler Knives II is the result of processes Daniel Winkler developed over the past few years in order to provide axes and knives to teams within United States Army Special Operations and US Naval Special Warfare. Each piece in this collection bears the Winkler Knives II touchmark.
The Wild Bill Axe was developed for one of the US Government three letter agencies. It was so popular that Daniel decided to open this model up for the public.
Weighing in at just under 1-1/2 lbs, this axe is designed for quick deployment and cleanup. Despite the large, double handed grip area, this hawk has proven to be lighter, quicker and easier to deploy. The full tapered tang is skeletonized, reducing while distributing weight in a way that improves balance and strike force. Overall length is 12-3/4 inches and the head measures 6" from cutting edge to spike. The cutting edge measures 2 inches.
The warm toned, dyed maple handle provides a secure grip in wet or dry conditions, as well as excellent shock-absorption. By sculpting the haft, Daniel provides a strong, slip resistant, and comfortable grip.
A felt lined, Kydex carrier with nylon webbing belt hanger is included.
