Description: Journeyman Smith Gary Rodewald is an exceptional knifemaker and this is an elegant example of a hand forged bowie that lives up to the ideals of the ABS!
The large 7 inch spearpoint blade is hand forged from W-2 carbon steel with a visible differential heat treatment line. This line shows the transition between the soft, supportive spine, and the hard, keen, long lasting edge. The flats feature a forge finish and the grinds feature an heirloom satin finish. A long swedge reduces weight without sacrificing tip strength. A distal taper gives the knife perfect balance in hand.
The handle is comprised of two pieces of expertly matched ram's horn. Mortised tang construction ensures strength and durability. Ram's horn is a natural material preferred by many knifemakers for its natural texture and organic appearance. Stainless steel pins set the handle in place and are carved to match the natural shape of the horn. The 416 stainless steel guard is satin finished and helps bring weight to the center of the knife.
This knife is accompanied by a hand stitched, tooled leather sheath made by Gordon Kenley.
Excellent fit throughout!
