Description: Curtis Iovito and Mark Carey, co-founders of Spartan Blades, LLC, possess over 40 years of combined military service and experience. Since their retirement from US Army Special Forces they have been involved in the development, marketing, and program management of tactical gear and ballistic armor products. For years, Curtis has designed and made custom knives for his friends in Special Forces and for other companies. Mark and Curtis have combined their shared love of knife making, military experience and knowledge of the tactical equipment market to form Spartan Blades, LLC with a singular mission: “Manufacture finely crafted tactical and field knives.”
The Spartan-George V-14 Dagger is Spartan Blades' first collaboration with the gifted knife maker Les George. Daggers have come to symbolize the elite of our military special operations units and intelligence agencies, since the forming of the OSS. They wanted to take a classic profile and improve it with better materials and thoughtful design. A full-tang design along with the 0.25 inch precision ground thickness makes for a very reliable blade. After hollow grinding 4 symmetrical bevels, each blade is vacuum heat treated, double deep cryogenically treated and double tempered to add to edge retention and toughness, thus curing a problem that has plagued past military daggers. The ergonomic and textured handle is specifically designed with comfort and confident grip. The handle is a divergence from tradition as it is oblong with flats on each side to assist in indexing of the knife during hours of limited visibility. This is a real combat dagger!
The Spartan-George V-14 Dagger won Collaboration Knife of the Year at the 2014 Blade Show.
