Description: Gary Rodewald is an outstanding bladesmith, creating knives with exceptional edge holding as well as exceptional beauty. This impressive bowie is sure to become a favorite in your collection! This knife was kept in a private collection since it was made in 2016. By all appearances it is in brand new condition.
Gary forged the blade to shape from W2 carbon steel. It features a hand rubbed satin finish and a razor sharp edge. It was heat treated using a traditional Japanese technique. The spine was coated with clay prior to quenching, which results in a softer, supportive spine with a keen, long lasting edge. The undulating heat treatment line is called a gunome hamon in Japan. A long swedge travels along the spine.
The handle is made from exhibition grade stag. The stag provides a secure grip and feels great in the hand! A damascus guard and ferrule separate the handle from the blade. The handle is finished with a premium ancient walrus ivory butt cap. Deep blue tones such as this are not only particularly attractive, but they are also extremely rare and desirable. This knife is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath made by Gordon Kenley.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
