Description: Artist Tom Sterling combines sculpture and function into unique masterpieces that are rarely matched elsewhere. Each creation is an original museum quality work, evocative of times long past. Long fascination with many artistic and historic disciplines have led to artistic interpretations of the tools and weapons of bygone times, resulting in a fascinating fusion of cultures. Nordic, Celtic, Aztec, Mayan and Northwest Native American influences are often noticeable, but whimsy occasionally lets fly as well.
Here whimsy is flying high! Tom has created a piece right out of Middle Earth with the Dragonsbane Poniard. It shows amazing attention to detail and is a perfect display of Tom's skill and craftsmanship.
This stiletto poniard style dagger, features hand forged 1045 carbon steel. The head sits atop the tower, detailed with inlaid 24kt gold. Skulls of the unfortunate rest beneath the dragon's head, each delicately carved. A spiral staircase travels upwards from the copper guard, carved and inlaid with skulls.
The dagger is accompanied by a hand carved presentation stand, which incorporates, mild steel, copper, and boxwood along with the primary black walnut.
The perfect gift for that favorite hobbit, elf or orc in your life. Tolkien would be proud!
