Description: John Young is one of the hottest makers of classic stock-removal fixed blades on the custom knife scene today. His wait time for a custom piece is 4-6 years. This knife has been in a private collection. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. The sheath shows very slight wear from storage but has never been carried. Here is a unique opportunity to acquire one of his knives right now.
This Loveless style knife has a drop point blade made from ATS-34 stainless steel. It is meticulously mirror polished and shows off the concave grind flawlessly. The full tang blade tapers in the handle to assist with weight and balance. The steel throughout this knife from bolsters to tang, and blade are formed from one solid piece of steel.
Mammoth ivory supplies the scales for the handle, and in addition to the usual off-whites and caramels these pieces offer ample bluish/green tones that are extremely rare. These tones are created from minerals in the soil that the mammoth ivory has been sitting in for thousands of years. Twin stainless steel pins secure the handle scales. These, as well as the double bolsters, have been mirror polished. A lanyard slotted hole is at the end of the handle. The knife is accompanied by a tan leather sheath.
A very classy piece. Absolutely gorgeous work with meticulous fit and finish!
