Description: Knives that have mixed the warmth of natural wood and stag have always been a favorite of mine and this knife does it to perfection. Fine silver inlay adds an heirloom quality to this exceptional Jay Hendrickson hunter. This knife has been in a private collection since it was made by Jay back in 2000. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances it could have been made yesterday!
Mastersmith Jay Hendrickson began by forging the 1084 carbon steel blade to shape. The appleseed grind is a hallmark of Jay's hand forged blades. A clear differential heat treatment line travels along the blade, showing the transition between soft, supportive spine and the keen, hard edge steel.
The handle combines persimmon wood with stag. The wood was harvested from the ABS school grounds in Washington, Arkansas. This is only one of two knives that Jay has made from persimmon wood. The wood has been inlaid with fine silver in a trailing vine and leaf pattern. Exceptional work throughout from a true master!
