Description: Ed Schepp's work has become increasingly difficult to come by over the years -- collectors just don’t tend to let it go from their collections. This exceptional dagger is one of the early knives sold from BladeGallery. It has been in a single collection since it first sold from us and is in new condition -- never having been used to cut and never having been sharpened since it was first created.
The blade, tang and guard are fully integral and forged from 52100 carbon steel -- one of the best steels for edge holding found anywhere. The hollow ground blade shows off clean grind lines and a long ricasso, leading into the integral guard. The "sideways" tang is surrounded by sections of fossil walrus ivory. The tang has been fileworked in a bold vine pattern. The walrus ivory has been scrimshawed by Bob Hergert, continuing the pattern of the filework. Ed was a pioneer in creating integral bolsters on his knives and this dagger is one of his masterpieces. The handle is finished off with Ed's own mokume gane. Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
