Description: This excellent bowie was forged by now-retired bladesmith Steve Mullin. This knife has been in a private collection and it is in near-new condition. It does not appear to have ever been sharpened or used to cut.
The long, broad blade features a fully sharpened clip. The W2 carbon steel blade was differentially heat treated using a traditional Japanese technique. The spine was coated with clay prior to quenching -- this results in a soft, supportive spine with a keen, long lasting edge. The undulating heat treatment line is called a hamon.
The mild steel oval guard, ferrule, and pommel have all been antiqued and heat blued. This surrounds a premium sambar stag handle. Sambar stag of this quality is increasingly hard to come by. Excellent work throughout! A rare deal!
