Description: This sculptural knife integrates organic patterns in the highly sculpted wood.
The blade was forged to shape by renowned Swedish bladesmith, Micke Andersson. The blade was forged from 20C and 15N20 carbon steels and has a firecracker edge and a twist pattern spine. The blade was hollow ground and is razor sharp.
The handle was carved from chechen burl wood (Metopium brownii). This central American hardwood is found in several Caribbean island republics, as well as Belize, Guatemala, and the Yucatan region of Mexico. The trees can grow up to 50 feet. This wood is also known as black poison wood, coral sumac, chechem, and cedro prieto. The stabilized burl has a dramatic grain pattern that nicely compliments Jeff's carving. Fine silver spacers separate the handle from front and rear mammoth ivory "bolsters". The sheath is carved in similar patterns from Oregon myrtle burl. Fine silver and mammoth ivory add detail to the handle as well. A chamois lanyard allows the knife to be worn from the belt or neck. Nice work throughout.
