Description: The Prehistoric Bird and Trout Knife is carved from hand forged 1095 carbon steel in Tom Sterling's unique "knapped steel" style. This technique creates a metal blade with the outward appearance of a stone knapped knife.
The handle features a fossil ichthyosaur (marine reptile) on one side and a fossil archaeopteryx (forerunner of birds) on the other. The three-dimensional engraving shows off details of these ancient creatures. Both are shown as though they were had just been discovered by an archeologist. The knife is accompanied by a walnut display case with hand-forged copper and fossil ivory closure. As always with Tom's pieces, this is truly exceptional work!
